Re: Bow /Stern Float Bags
You may want to look into some stow floats.
They're really handy for carrying spare layers, pin kit, etc.. not as "air" tight as a standard float but they provide the necessary displacement and floatation.
Wild Wasser Overnighters go for a good price.
NRS has a stow float (expensive) that looks better than the WWs.
Happy boatin'

Re: Bow /Stern Float Bags
I've got the NRS rodeo floats in all of my boats. Some have developed slow leaks over time, but they've all held up really well. You should be fine with just bags in the stern. You can let a little air out and stuff a dry bag (or whatever else you need) in front of them.

Re: Bow /Stern Float Bags
Been wondering if anybody else is ghetto like me...Tire (small tire) innertube float bag in the bow. I never need it for storage and very cheap and never should pop!
