At least two or three of us are going to Richland tomorrow, with a planned meeting time of 11 AM at the Put in bridge (North of Ben Hur, Upper Richland put-in).
It might make a difference on how many cars we bring, so if anyone is going that way, let us know.
I of course will NOT complain if someone wants to get there earlier and go ahead and start seting shuttle! If you leave a note somewhere at the put in, we'll even wait for you to get back before launching!
Level should be low 3's, which some say is too low, but is actually a reasonably fun level and not bad at all for anyone trying Richland for the first time. We've run it a lot lower!
AGAIN, if you think you're "in", speak up, I'll check back later tonight and first thing in the morning.

Different maps call it different things - a lot of the "electronic" maps call it County road 32. I've also seen "Ben Hur Cemetary road" and saw a written description that said FS 1203.
To be sure, enter N35.77410 W92.98820 into some electronic mapping program and see if that takes you to the same place.
OR - is the bridge you're talking about just a hair over 3 miles NNW of Ben Hur? If yes, that is the right place.

Won my first tri-event race at Richland, today. To bad I was the only one that entered said race. Can't wait to go back. Probably will try and stay in the single event catorgory, next time. Thanks for trip HC!

Great day on the creek!
Stats:
Level 19" at put in
3.2 feet at take out
5 kayaks
3 open boats
Fully 50% of group on Richland for their first time (1 yaker, all three open boaters)
Other notes:
Level may have been low, but this IS enough water for an enjoyable float!
Never trust Arkansas weather. It was so warm at put-in time, some were thinking of switching to thinner layers; an hour later the sun went back behind the clouds, the weather started turning cooler and by the end of the day NOBODY felt they had "overdressed" at the put in.
Good group exercising good judgement, for example, only the "veterans" ran Lower Screw Up. Result: No Bleeders!
The creek did manage to open up some old war wounds on Painter Bob's boat, but he's the kind of guy that won't have any trouble patching the patch.
Even Richland has a little trash that we can pull out on each run. Special thanks to Chicago Bob for carrying a truck inner tube down the river from Bloody Knuckles on. Even my good friend Cole is now reluctant to let me load trash in his open boat ever since that "Devil chair" incident at Maytag.

Bloody Knuckles? Are you talking about Knucklebuster? Or is there a rapid named that I don't know? canoe.

No, I've been calling it by the "wrong" name for so many years now, that my mind just refuses to correct itself.
Wish you had been there; I know you would have been so happy to see so many "new to Richland" open boaters, and I'm sure your open-boat wisdom could have benefitted them more than my "generalized" tips.

I know you would have been so happy to see so many "new to Richland" open boaters ...this is code for ..you should have been there to see the carnage!

.... or, I'm sure your open-boat wisdom could have benefitted them more than my "generalized" tips.. you mean the part where you say, you could go right, ... and Billy says, stay in the middle , then everyone goes left? .... and how tall was that waterfall? 40 or 50 ft.

"Now stay just a boats wide left of the right side, and try not to hit the brown rock." This is kinda like the star that guided the wise men. I never could figure out how the guys could pin point the manger with a star.

It was a good day on the river...my first Richland run since like last march! Good meeting new people. Nice job to those who sacked up and kept getting back in despite swimming!

Sorry I could not be there, due to some back issues. Glad you had a good time, even if there was some reported carnage. canoe
