ILLINOIS BAYOU HECTOR TO SCOTTSVILLE SAT. 1/14/12

Post by CAPTAIN ALEVE » Wed Jan 11, 2012 1:44 pm

I'd like to make the 10 mile Class 2 trip from Hector to Scottsville this Saturday, January 14, 2012. Tentatively planning to be at the Highway 27 bridge just north of Hector at 10:00 a.m. Forecast is for sunshine and 59 degrees. I don't have anyone else planning to join me at this point and I won't be going unless I get some others to come along. There's an extra detail or two at http://www.class2arkansas.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

Cap'n:

Cannot make such a trip this month, but my wife and I will be heading down to Southern MO (Licking / Houston area) from Feb 20 to Mar 17 and would like to join you one one of your adventures during that period.

We migrate south each February to avoid our native (white and Rockwell 32C hardness) water. It sounds (from your new web site) as though you appreciate the same kinds of paddling that we do.

Send me an email if you have the chance!

Be well.

I'm sorry to say that I am not going to be able to make it to the Bayou this Saturday, 1/14/12, after all. I have tweaked my back and am in pain once again. Saturday's going to be a perfect day with perfect water for the run, so I hope you carry on without me.

Mike - Sorry to hear you cannot go. I was about to post to say that if you decide to float on Sunday, I would plan to join you. Hope to see you on the river soon.

Mike, I hate your not getting to paddle. You take care of that back of yours. Hope you will be ok for the next. May call you tonight and plan out eating out like we talked. Maybe Sat. night or Sunday this weekend.

I think the gauge correlation is off by about half a foot.
I drove by when the gauge was reading at 6 feet and it was way too low to float (yes I have floated it down to 5.5 and it had more water then).
