I got the Astral Green Jacket because it fit and adjusted to my short torso better than the Stohlquist Descent. However, I do not really like the pocket design on my first gen green jacket, which I believe has since been fixed.

The green jacket will be my next jacket. My rocker (based on the decent) isn't the most comfortable jacket out there. It has a lot of padding to keep you protected from rocks (hence the name) but the mobility suffers. The green jacket looks more comfy to me.

That said, there are a bunch of grat PFDs out there.

I like Adam's second posted review:

Important items to consider
coverage & floatation for your own protection
Quick release tow strap
Ease of entry & removal
Storage and accessibility of storage.

I have an Astral Green Jacket and I like it just fine except for two big things

1. Ease of removal for self rescue
2. Access of side zippered compartment for tow tether is difficult to access.
