Has anyone floated Bear Creek down to the Buffalo? I have been told locals fish it but there may be problems with fences.
I am also interested in whether you can shuttle by leaving a car near its confluence with the Buffalo or if it is better continue to Maumee. Or maybe portage back to Gilbert by trail?

I'll just sit right here and await word...
Looks like a beautiful creek for sure.

I have not driven down the Bear Creek road, nor have I floated Bear Creek but when I pass by the confluence with the Buffalo, I frequently see vehicles and people there. There is a little known access just before Red Bluff called Sand Hole on river left. It involves a climb up a short sandy trail to the road but it saves having to go all the way to Maumee. Paddling upstream is an option. Last fall someone poled a canoe from the White to Tyler bend. In the early 70's scout troop "Ole 97" out of the Memphis area held their summer camp at Red Bluff and would paddle canoes upstream to Gilbert and then float back to Red Bluff. I for one would think paddling upstream would be a lot easier than portaging on the rail grade back to Gilbert.
