Remmel to Rockport Saturday. Questions.

Post by Deuce » Tue Dec 13, 2011 8:18 am

Mrs. Deuce gave me a yard pass this weekend, but I need to come home Saturday evening. Thinking about camping at Catherine Friday and floating/fishing the run Saturday in my raft. Anyone have advice on fishing, shuttle, or anything else? Thinking the water will be there.

I agree, but it is hard to say for sure. They're running it a bit high right now; the lake is about 1.5 feet above flood stage, and dropping at about 0.5 feet every 3 days. So I'd expect them to keep running at or near this level for at least another week, until they get the lake below the 578' that they call "Flood stage".

Once they do cut back, peak flows will probably occur in the evening hours, because that is when the peak electrical load occurs this time of year.

If your goal is floating and fishing, vs. playing the ledge, I think you'll have a decent time no matter what level they're releasing at.
Trash: Get a little every time you go!

Just got home. She was rockin' and rollin'. Fishing wasn't any good, which we expected, but the birds put on a great show for us, and the weather was spectacular. The water came down quite a bit as we were floating, and by the time we reached the ledge it was suitable for playing. There was one guy there taking advantage of it. Many thanks to Mr. Jim for keeping me apprised of the flow situtation and coming through with a shuttle. I think he enjoyed the show of inflating and putting together the floating version of the Beverly Hillbillies' truck. :poke2: That's about it.

I'm glad you guys had a decent trip Luke! I thoroughly enjoyed meeting the both of you and really enjoyed seeing some raft procedures! It really did turn out to be such a nice day weather-wise, I also very much enjoyed watching the fog lift as you all were getting ready this morning. If you want to float agin this winter, I'll be glad to shuttle anytime when were not going to be out floating ourselves somewhere else.

I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!

Best Regards
Jim
