Here's the video from my first trip down upper Richland on the day before Thanksgiving. Glad I finally got to run this.

And here's one of some Branson area boating from the day before that.

Nice video with a little bluegrass Metallica to boot. Do you recall what section of Richland this was and what the water level was? I saw its upper Richland was that the whole 6 mile run above the campground?

Perspective, I don't think we have met, I've boated with Dan as well. Surely we'll run into each other sometime. I usually try to get on the water every chance I get.
Mike, it was the full 6 miles above the campground. I think the internet gauge was around 3.4, maybe.

Yup! It was 3.4 on the gauge.
I was there that day, we passed your group while you were taking video at LSU. What a great 2 days of paddling!

Since I missed that day, this was especially appreciated. It was surprising how many of my Arkie friends I saw in your video; Roger had already "confessed" that the low water was less than optimum for the Shredder, so no major suprises, but I still enjoyed watching Cole's paddle twill celebration at USU.
I felt like I was almost in the boat with you at USU; in the approach I'm thinking "oops, too low for a good boof - go right, go right - oh crap I'm going left - this might not work out so good... roll, roll, roll!!!"
Thanks for sharing so those who missed could live vicariously...

Loved watching the video and getting an idea what Richland is like. Too bad it is beyond my skill level. Does look like fun.

If you want to the lower Bull you put in at the slab bridge on Round Mountain Rd. It's off of 176 between 160 and 65. Lower bull is in the video...

Thanks John
The roark video reminds me of this one time last spring, it was the day after easter when we hit long creek, and my buddy wanted to try out his new kayak, a LL Hoss. So we went to Roark, and it was pretty big. The first ledge where you can boof right or run the more gradual slope on the left was just a little bump with a big hole in the middle. We got out to look at it and he says he is ready to go, so we get in our boats and I tell him to follow me and we will go around the left side of the hole. I totally blow it and lead him right into the meat of the hole, and he gets backendered and emerges unscathed but with a very worried expression. Later in the run he gets trashed on an edyline and rolls, then hits the hole behind the last ledge and swims. He sold the boat, but he still likes to paddle, just in his big canoe.
Good times
Dan

Huck,
I guess you should just run it all and see. The middle is my least favorite, very pretty and good fishing but not much gradient. The very top from the national forest to Red bridge is good, and from Round mountain down is also good.

Your video also reminds me of the time I got decided I was going to run Richland and met you and Jeff, Jason and Benjamin at the campground since you where doing Falling water. Jeff sort of told me I probably wasn't ready for it, and of course he was right. I swam and got a little worried and walked out, then I drank your beer at the takeout while you where waiting for your shuttle. I have got a beer for you next time we see each other.
