Questions about UALR pool sessions

Hi my name is Daniel and Im a very new member to the ACC. I wanted to go to UALR this week to learn/practice my rolling. My questions are:

Do I need some form of membership identification to get in the pool? (Do we even get a membership card from ACC?) Will my receipt for paying my membership dues suffice?

Is there any etiquette I should know about besides being courteous to swimmers and cleaning off my boat...ie: where to be at in the pool? etc.

Finally... will anyone be there this week that could possibly give me some pointers?

Thanks in advanced!!

I believe you are technically supposed to be a member, but no one really checks it. And no, you don't get an official membership card. My thought on using the pool and membership is our pool sessions in Little Rock are free (other chapters have to pay for the use of local pools), so the $25 to become a member is pretty fair. I think some pools charge $5-$10 for each session.

The two etiquette items you listed are the two that are stressed the most - especially cleaning your boat before you come in. Oh and make sure you are out (gear and all) at the designated time the pool closes. If it is 8pm, be out by then - that means getting out of the pool and changing, loading gear, etc. well before 8pm.

As far as instructors, there are no official instructors, but there are usually a handful of people who will help out. I've noticed there are usually more people attending in the fall and winter when it's too dark or cold to go anywhere else. Saturday sessions seem to be less populated because people are out floating or doing other things, but there's still a handful of folks who show up. Hope this helps.

There's a roll session this year at the Rendezvous...you could just come for the entire weekend and meet a ton of paddlers, learn how to roll, eat some good fun, and have a great weekend for only $5.00 and camping is free!!!

Check out the Definitive Rendezvous Thread for more information!!!
