My Blackwater 11.5 has developed a soft bottom which is creating a lot of drag . It is still good for messing around in the backwaters of South Arkansas but it makes a good reason for thinking about a new boat. I already know what I would get IF I get a rec kayak. There is only white water here when two ski boats cross to close to you so I am not to worried about a play type boat.
What I need help with is deciding what a good touring kayak would be for me. I am 6 foot, a bit over 200 pounds with size 14 feet. A sit inside with room for camping gear is a must. I also would like a little more speed than my current boats offer. Also I have been paddling for three summers now.
Any ideas would be appreciated and explored. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the suggestion. This is one of the boats I am seriously considering, the new colors have just about sold me on it. Everyone I talk to thinks it is a great boat.
I am just curious about how it paddles on flat water compared to, say a Inuite in a twelve foot length or some other similar light touring craft.

Yeah these boats are great. Out on flatwater, dropping that skeg will make one of these track like a much longer boat and hold a great line, and then if you even do hit the occasional riffle on the river you pull it up, and it's a perfectly functional whitewater boat as well.

I hope to borrow on at rendezvous, if I can get off, and see how they handle. As I said this is one of the boats I am seriously considering. I really like the Green Hornet color that they have come out with. Matches the swamps and backwaters that I would be paddling most.
