Islands on Beaver lake
Islands on Beaver lake
I was wondering if the islands on Beaver Lake were private property or public. Was thinking about canoeing over to Deer island from the Hwy 12 bridge.

I've heard that they are corp property and no camping allowed. Would like to know the facts myself.

I've been on a few myself, and some have geocaches. The man to ask would be Eric Esche, he lives about a block from the Monte Ne ramp and spends more time on Beaver Lake in a kayak than anyone else I know. I miss Beaver Lake, there just isn't anything near Conway that matches it. Bull Shoals is supposed to be decent, but I've never been up there.

I do not know the answer to this (and have wondered myself), but I would suggest you call Alan Bland at the Army Corps of Engineers resident office at 479-636-1210 Monday through Friday during working hours to get a definative answer and then let us know. Have been warned to watch out for ticks, chiggers, and snakes on both Deer and Bear Islands if you go there.
I've been out sea kayaking on Beaver Lake 7 times now in last two weeks at 6:00 -6:30AM to beat the heat and maintain mental health while recovering from total knee replacement surgery. Done all these excursions from here at Monte Ne with my angels of mercy (my wife Susan, and my paddleing partner Mary), but am now released to drive again so I could go paddle other places with a little notice and planning. Give me a shout if you want to go paddle early with a gimp.

You can explore the islands all you would like, just like I said no camping,
fireworks, or campfires on the islands. They are neat places to check out,
that’s for sure. Have fun, be careful!
