Gopro Helment mount questions

I just got a new gopro and used the curved 3m mount to put it on my sweet rocker helmet.

My question is what is the best/safest way to tether it without getting beat in the face or tangled if the camera comes off. Currently I have it tethered to the chin strap, but the teather has to be somewhat long and it seems the camera could smash you in the face if it comes off.

Second question, I have hit a few rocks with helmets in the past. How will the gopro hold up being ontop of the helmet?

I have mine leashed to my chin strap also. I haven't had any problems with it hitting me in the face or anything when it gets knocked off, but I understand the concern. I have taken a good shot to the head with it on, and it broke away without any damage. I have also had it on my boat and had it broken off. The mount broke, but the camera stayed safe. They seem to be well built, but then again I may just be lucky.

I wouldn't wear it on my helmet unless I were willing to risk getting whacked in the face with it. That said, if you have an occipital strap in your helmet (i.e. goes under the bulge on the back of your skull), I would tie it there, just to keep the leash out of my face. If you don't you can decide how you feel about trying to rivet a leash-attachment point on that part of your helmet shell.

Hope this helps,
