I never thought I'd wanna try a SOT, but am now considerint it. The LL Coupe looks pretty good. Anyone have experience with it? How is it gonna compare to the Remix XP10's I've got? Kayakoholism has struck again. :shock: Thanks for your input, sarcasm, helpful advice or nasty remarks.

INPUT: I've been considering adding a SOT to my fleet for a couple of years now, primarily as the "perfect loaner" for those wanting to try the sport. In event of an upset, there is no fear of "entrapment" for the paddler, and because the boat doesn't fill with water, little chance of it being damaged or wrapped, which would be good for me as the owner. It also requires no explanation as to how to get the water out ("lift the end, no, the other end, no, you have to turn it over THEN lift the end..." - how many of us have had that conversation?). The person just flips the boat over and gets back in without having a 10 minute ordeal or being made to feel stupid. One reason I've held back on a SOT is I don't like the fact that most weigh a ton; this new LL boat seems to have addressed that by coming out with a boat that weighs the same as an XP-10 and about 10 pounds less than a Manta Ray 11. You'll miss the dry storage of your XP-10, but I'm sure you can find a dry bag for the back bay of the Coupe.

SARCASM: Oh Yeah, YOU NEED THIS BOAT! By the way, since you'll probably still like your XP-10's, better for most days, can I borrow your Coupe?

HELPFUL ADVICE: You're right, you've got the boat buying bug bad. You need to get it under control or you'll have a house full of boats and no gas money to get to the river. I suggest you demo one to make sure it really handles well enough to be pleasant downriver like your XP's before you make the leap.

Well it's about time. With three XP-10's, you've been missing the whole point of having a "quiver" of boats. So the XP-10 is great, we all get that. How many can you paddle at a time? That's right. ONE. The reason for having a "quiver" of multiple boats is so that you can choose the perfect boat for each day's outing. This is how that works: You have as many DIFFERENT boats as possible. You choose the one YOU want to paddle that day. Then the moochers, suckers, family and friends who want to go paddling with you get second choice, third choice, fourth choice, and so on until the quiver is empty. So yes, sell an XP-10 and get yourself a Coupe.

Bought one early this spring and love it. Threw some thigh straps on it and took the wheel wheel off(it does drag at times in rougher water).
