Diagnosis Please !

Post by johnnybiggun » Fri Jun 24, 2011 12:10 pm

Why do I want to buy every boat I run across? No matter how much I don't need it I still want it....Even if I just sold one just like it.....Me thinks I am in some deep doodoo !

Diagnosis:

Symptomatic Compulsion Requiring Every Water Enjoyment Device

Prognosis is bleak as condition is both acute and chronic and there is no known cure. There are, however, numerous support groups. Some (read Mrs. Deuce et al) argue that said support groups only serve to exacerbate condition. :hammer:

Maybe like Lady Gaga says, we were "Born This Way"

At least being madly in love with boats is not a "Bad Romance." (enough Lady Gaga puns)

I THINK IT'S SOMETHING IN THE WATER!!! :D

Hmmm, I started paddling in '09, in a little Pelican Pursuit 100. :chicken: Now I've got 8 boats, including 3 Remix XP10's. I picked up the Black Ops Pink Phantom at OOO Wednesday---and asked them about special ordering another one (a different color). Does this mean I've got that Kayakaholism gene? It seems to relate to other things like paddles, helmets, etc., too. Is there any cure, or does one simply go downstream and not return? :?

The addiction to surround yourself with boats does not go away with increasing age.

I have been thru the bass boat, sail boats of all sizes and now canoe, kayak and raft phase.

The kayak part has stayed with me and shows little signs of going away.

I am out of storage space.

Waaaa ha ha, Clif! That's why I like being single: No permission needed to get another boat; more $$ available for another boat; that second-car space in the carport can be used to store boats; I can go whenever and wherever I wanna go float; and no comments about my sanity when I bring another boat home.

So I was driving past some houses the other day, in a neighborhood with several for sale signs, and I'm thinking several years ago I wouldn't even be looking here, but maybe the bank wants to unload the property cheap, and I got all excited because one had a three-car garage and so I'm looking for an outbuilding that could store the rest of my boats....

I really don't know what the house looked like, but I don't care about that anyway 'cause I'm sure it had a roof, A/C for the summer and heat in the winter, so that part would be OK...

This condition is definitely chronic and has no cure.

In 1984 Gordon & I moved to Arkansas. When we went house hunting in Little Rock, we told the realtor that we wanted a house with a room off the garage to store our recreational gear & a place to store our boats - we had 5 at the time. We did not bother to look at any houses that did not meet those specifications.

We found just the right house - in one day. The 2 car garage holds 2 vehicles and 2 canoes - one hanging from the ceiling and the other on a shelf along one side. The crawl space is currently holding 5 boats and I think with a little tweaking I can get a sixth boat in there. Gordon built a system so that it is easy for me to slide a boat out of the crawl space.
