Spring River Camping

First off I've only been to the Spring once. We stayed in 3 river's Cabins on the hill at Hardy. Worked out well. This time we want to camp on the river. I did some driving around when we were there, if I remember correctly 3 river's campground is cross the RR Tracks and is all well shaded and on the river. Is my memory correct?
I would like to hear from others who have camped on the Spring. Where at and what kind of experience it was.
Reason being- We've all heard the horror stories from the area. Let alone I seen the Party Heat episode covering Spring and wow! I will never go on Labor Day!!

Riverside Resort is my favorite. It's clean, right on the river and has good security. It's where Recreational Paddling School is held each year. I usually stay in one of their "Camper Cabins" and have no complaints about anything there.

I second the recommendation for Riverside Resort.
You are going to hear the trains at any of the campgrounds along the Spring River. But they don't run at night. You won't hear them until 5:30 in the morning about the time your kidneys are calling for a bio break.

I also gotta put in a plug for Riverside Resort; stayed there the last 2 years for Rec.School and it is nice. They have some campsites that are within a few feet of the water. You could sit in your camp chair at your campsite and fish. I would stay away from Saddler Falls on any Sat. if you have kids. Sun. is a totally different story. We stayed until Mon. morning this year and I noticed that most of the boaters left Sun. afternoon and the serious fishers showed up Sun. evening and Mon. morning.

If fishing will be a high priority you might also consider South Fork. Their campsites are also right on the river and some of the best fishing is right there. Very quiet and family friendly, nice folks, and easy proximity to the Spring. They will provide you with a boat or shuttle you if you prefer to use your own and will facilitate any float you choose in the area.
