Osage 6/4 War Eagle 6/5 very late trip report.

Finally got on War eagle and Osage. Two really good creeks. Floated the Osage from the highway 221 bridge down to the 62 bridge on the King's. About eight miles. No gusts on the Osage that I know of, but the Kings was about 4.4. Nice run, real challenges. Was a close to perfect level for fishing. Only moderate bottom bumping. Fishing was kinda average. I caught 20-25 smallies, all basically 10"-12" carbon copies. Had one pretty nice fish throw the hook. Not the most senic of our streams, but pretty secluded and only saw three boats besides us. Surprising lack of strainers and downed trees. Used Ernie at Kings River outfitters for our shuttle. $45 and he found and mailed me my wallet a week after I lost it in his truck. Now that's a good outfitter. Did a short stretch on War Eagle, 3.5 miles from War Eagle Canoeing and Camping down to the gar hole. Really good looking creek, lots of cool undercut bluffs. Again, no real problems, one tree across the creek that was easy to get over in shallow water. Fishing was really bad. My friend got one really nice smallmouth, 17" or18", other than that we caught very little. Gauge read about 2.4. Used Loyd Lewis @ War Eagle canoeing and camping for our shuttle $40. Also camped there both nights. $10 a night. Was the first time I have ever been shuttled where I never actually laid eyes on the outfitter. Called him for pick up when we reached the gar hole, only to be told that the brand new tundra parked there was our ride. Left truck at campsite, keys and money in an honor box, never saw him all weekend. Was a really nice primitive campsite right on the creek, had it all to ourselves the first night. Also, the deep hole near the camp was probably the best fishing of the whole weekend.
