buffalo river

Post by dwilson » Mon Jun 20, 2011 6:48 am

Looking for opinions. I know this is the spot for that. Comparing section of the Buffalo does Rush to the White compare to Carver to Woolum. We floated Carver to Woolum this weekend and seemed to have alot of paddling time. I know the wind and that the river was starting to get low in that area had some to do with the trip. We are wanting to do the last section soon and was wandering if we can expect the same type of flow. I know for this some of you will through rocks at me but I made trolling motor bracket for my canoe and was thinking of using it to float Rush to the White. Painterbob we caught a couple of buckets full of smallmouth and a bunch of perch. You was right the fishing was great. Sorry we didn't catch up with ya maybe next time. Let the rockin begin.

A MOTOR?? Doesn't that mean gasoline, noise, etc? Whut is yer hurry to get down the river? Water was fairly slow but definitely moving last weekend, from Hwy 14 bridge to Rush.

Go forth and PADDLE!!

trolling moter will come in handy getting up the white .5 mile to take out. this section of the buffalo is the longest and slowest. boats coming up from white river. but its a section you have to do once, bluffs lots of great sandbars, wildlife, etc. robert

on that section you'll have longer pools. and wind could be a big factor . (fishing isn't as good, that part gets pounded from river traffic..

IMO and Experiences, I always thought the year 05' we floated Rush-White, that it was the best fishing I've ever seen on Buffalo. Definitely the best for lunker Smallies. Unless the boats put in at Rush and go down with the low water levels I doubt there will be many. Most wont due that either cause she is getting low. There will be some river boat traffic but it will be in the last mile or so( shoals that become impassable going up in low water by boats).

Don' forget the the smallmouth regulations change from Clabber creek(Shoals) down. I think it is 1 smally at 18".

I have a Uncle who has guided for Rose's Trout dock in Norfork 30+ yrs and I do know when Buffalo gets low the boats stay off it. Usually memorial weekend or later it is to low for boats.

Maybe painterbob can change my mind about the upper and middle sections having better fishing by showing me!!

My fishing experience with that bob fella is he thinks those fish are his. He got me to use this rubber thang. Said it was great said it was best thing since peanut butter and jelly. I never caught a fish on it. I know now what he was doing. He didn't want me catching any. We don't keep the fish just do it for grins. The buckets was a way of describing the amount. Just pokin fun at painterbob.
