Chris,
Once you finalize more details, be sure to post again. I am not familiar with that area or stretch of water at all. If it's Class I and II without too many obstacles/strainers, Noah could probably handle it. By chance, do you have GPS coordinates or directions for the take-out? I am very directionally challenged. I noticed that you wrote "clan". Do you have kids that float as well?
Thanks again for posting on the other thread. I'm simply not familiar with very many rivers yet.
Thanks,
Sandy

Sandy,

Take out is at the WW park in Malvern (Rockport). You go thru the front of the Wal-Mart parking to to get there. Bear to the right and turn left on South River Creek Dr. turn right when it T's into Riverview Rd. Go under bridge. WW park is ahead on left. We usually meet there; consolidate boats and run shuttle up to the dam.

Water is Class I with one Class II at the ledge (WW Park) right above the takeout. No strainers/obstacles to speak of.

My daughter Hannah (14) has been paddling her own boat for 4+ years now. Even though there's only 3 of us, Hannah, myself and Felicia, I refer to us as a clan in light of our Scottish heritage (Crawford is a very old Scottish name. Felicia's ancestory is Scottish also). My way of letting everyone know that the whole family is coming.

Does anyone know of another way to find release times at Remmel Dam. I called the number on the Ozark Creek page but all I got were a series of recordings. Maybe they have been getting lots of calls and stopped picking up the phone. I'm just worried they'll shut it off just before I put in this weekend. That would be my luck.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but releases from Remmel generally start around 11am? on Saturdays and Sundays from now 'till Labor day and peak at about 3500 cfs.

Meet near boat ramp (take out) at N34.3942 W92.8412

Put in for those doing the downstream float, put in is at
N34.4270 W92.8908

Coordinates degrees and decimal degrees

Meet at Ledge at Noon, head to top from there.

I don't know the official schedule, but with current lake levels, I wouldn't worry about them turning it off early.

Contacted Ted Smethers with Entergy yesterday. He confirmed what the site below listed. Entergy will be discharging at approx. 3600 cfs 24/7 for several weeks until lakes get to desired levels. Releases 'normally' start 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on weekends during the summer but this year due to high water they will release 24/7 until furhter notice. I was thinking 12:30 p.m. but Cowper said noon so 12:00 p.m. it is. We'll be in a dark green XTerra with 3-4 boats on top. Hannah may bring her 'friend who's a boy.' ACC license plate on front and ACC sticker in back window.

Linda check out the link below. I emailed Ted Smethers and got a reply in about 30 mins.
