High water remmel dam float trip?

They are releasing water at higher flows from Remmel dam right now and will be for a couple more weeks. I want to take my family on a float trip from Remmel dam to the ledge next weekend. Is there any reason this is a bad idea at the higher release level?

Release time is the perfect float time on that trip. You don't have the many rocks to dodge and bascially just a couple of shoals to manuever through but you do need some boat control. No big rapids to run. Makes for a very nice family outing.
There is the Rockport ledge to get over at the end of it and I ususally get a boat load of water there. I've been told that you can get off the river before going over the ledge though.
There are not a lot of places to stop and eat lunch, however it is not a very loonnnnnggg trip.

Thanks for the question. I was wondering the same thing. Exactly how long is not long...two, three hours? I want to take a friend who is a complete newbie. And I want to try out the Versa Board on moving water.

We are considering going tomorrow for a family run. It's usually a 1.5-2 hr trip. My kids love going over the ledge. My 10 yr old will paddle over it, park the kayak and then get out and float over it, out of the boat...over and over again. I make him wear a shred ready helmet to keep his brains in his head! Its a beautiful area and the WW boaters are awesome to watch there. Have a good trip!
