Not entirely true Jack. At this level, most everything is washed out..but there is the one good hole that forms somewhere in this CFS range right near the suckhole almost in the middle of the river. I'm not sure exactly what level it is, but I know it's somewhere in this range.

I just couldn't resist

the ledge has nice features at this level, but alot of current-
went yesterday for a moment and found smooth wave in front of eddy rock (which is a poorover -6"), very good spinhole (actually next to normal spinhole behind its eddy rock), deep but not retentive (single cartwheels and loops possible), and one nice center wave joe mentioned that is wide and a good place to eat lunch - the eddy's are not so forgiving- and last but not least is tiger's jaw- just a fast wave with a small soft hole on surfer's left-

I was there last weekend and it was OK but not great at around 10'. The regular wave and hole on surfer right is washed out but fun for beginners (i.e., my son) since there is a wave train. There was a decent hole that developed right where a large rock is usually sticking out about 50' from the shore. It was really weird though since the hole would be really nice for awhile and then waves would pulsate through the hole and break it up- very strange. To the immediate right of this hole was a great surfing wave that I could just sit in. I didn't make it any further to the other side so I don't know how the rest of the ledge was- I had to keep an eye on my son. Personally, I love the river at 7 - 8'.

Any guesses on the release for Sunday? I may have to stay close to home!

Renee - the following is from their email on Wednesday (yesterday). Based on the projected drop rate of the lake, it would take about 13 days from Wednesday to get to the level of 578.10 ft. So my understanding was that the release would stay at 10,500 cfs until then. But, today the level dropped to 4970 cfs so I don't know what's going on.
Significant changes in the releases from the dams. The Corps is releasing about 10,500 CFS from Blakely Mountain Dam around the clock to lower lake Ouachita down out of the flood pool. Ouachita is currently at elevation 584.20 feet and the Corps will reduce flow to normal releases when the elevation drops to 578.10 feet. It is currently dropping at a rate of about .44 feet per day. This flow release is being matched by the downstream Carpenter and Remmel dams.

Yeah, it looks like they might be releasing at this level consistently for a little while, so I was just wondering. Think I'll make the trip and check it out. Thanks for the input.

I may try and head out Sunday. I am wanting to go to Dierks saturday, but I'll have to wait and see what I have lined up regarding work and or kids, etc. Either way, I will end up at Rockport sometime this weekend more than likely.

Hey Joe - give me a call. My plan is to go to Dierks for day Saturday, but it is dependent on how the pup is doing. If I need to stay close to home, I may just go to Rockport Saturday too. I definitely plan to go to Rockport Sunday, so give me a shout!
