Wolf Bayou opportunities

Post by Roger » Fri May 20, 2011 6:51 pm

Think that Wolf might be at a minimal level tomorrow at the least. Forecast calls for more rain/storms in this area and considering the flows in the small stuff up near that area, I am going early to check the putin but not planning on an early start. Will have to come back and get gear.

Sunday definitely looks like a go if the forecast holds. Got a call in to Dodson. Post in the morning.

Just to update, NWS says that the Wolf Bayou watershed has already had 6 inches of rain since midday, and it's still coming down in buckets here and should continue for a few hours more at least, maybe much longer.

Just got back from the putin and the Iniation rapid is one long continuous rapid that continues around the bend. Level is way bigger than my one time down. Hoping tonight's forecast will not be so much as to make it too big tomorrow.

Cole and I are crossing our fingers that tomorrow will be a more comfortable level for us.

Will check the level again this afternoon.

Mr. Newcombe, check your pm's. Will go back in the a.m. to check putin level again. BTW, the road has been gated at an intersection of the logging roads just past the last house on the right when you leave the cleared area into the "primitive" section.

Backup plan is laps on Snow Creek.

Flow was such that putin should have happened at 8:00 a.m. :( Afraid that by the time it could happen, it will be too low.

No rain last night but trying to rain in the area now and if it does to any degree, it will be there tomorrow again. I have school. :(
