Advice on shuttle service

Post by robmoff2 » Tue May 17, 2011 7:11 pm

Hello all,
I am new to the boards here. I am planning a trip this weekend with my dad. We will be coming up from Little Rock on Friday morning to paddle from Pruitt to Gilbert. Can anyone recommend a good (and economical) shuttle service? We have canoe and gear, just need shuttling.

Thanks!
Rob

Closest outfitter to Pruitt is Buffalo River Canoes, and they are great guys. Their website is http://www.floatthebuffalo.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and says their private shuttle fee from Pruitt to Gilbert is $60...

Gotta agree with JT about Buffalo River Canoes. We've started to use them exclusively when we're in that area of the Buffalo. Great service.

Hey, thanks for the tip. The guys at BRC were great, very nice. The problem is that the water is high and the park service has closed the river to outfitters. Are there any locals who would be interested in shuttling a run from ponca to kyle's?

Ponca to Kyles is no longer in flood. If the NPS has not reopened that area already, they will be doing it soon. BRC serves that area as well.
When do you plan to go? You may be able to hook up with someone here on the message board and do a self shuttle or split the cost.

Thanks for the reply. I wasnt able to to reply because of reception problems, but I found a guy who was interested in making a run yesterday so we arranged transportation. He backed out, but my dad and I took or chances when the river was a few inches over the bridge at ponca.
We left our canoe wrapped around a tree, which sucked, but we had a great time up until then and met some great folks who picked us up in their raft.
