Pretty neat. Looks like the section about a mile above the campground, right below where the creek from sleepy valley comes in. Have you run the section just above the campground to near the 70 bridge? thanks, ty

This is the section that is just between the entrance to the campground and the intersection of Gorge Rd and Hwy 70 - It's just almost across the street from the campground entrance.

I am from Hot Springs originally. I can remember riding by here as a kid and seeing these rapids when it would rain heavily, thinking to myself, "I'm going to ride down that one day."

I am just glad you had paddler C's helmet on.

My mistake. It's been a while since I've been through the gorge. The rocks you ran through look pretty interesting in low water. I always thought it'd be a hoot to run from Sleepy Valley or even further up, just off of ParkAve to the 70 bridge. last Time I really looked at it, It seemed that there were a few trees across that would've require a portage. I spent a lot of time hiking in and around the gorge as a kid and playing in the creek.

Hey! On the third pass (which my actually the second run) I bit off a reasonable chunk of "the meat!"

But yes, after looking at it for a while and watching it surge, I was a bit intimidated being the only boater there at the time so I picked the "sneak" line. Next time though, I'll take her right down the middle!

(didn't look very "snagged" as it casually floated down the creek )

Paddler C gets caught in and worked in hole, sticks with it and owns the hole
Paddler B gets caught in same hole right behind Paddler C
Paddler B swims hole

Two laps down Galla, Three paddlers, Two swims

Paddler A - 1 Swim
Paddler B - 1 Swim
Paddler C - ZERO Swims!!! OWWW!!!

John I was probing Galla on a rapid that had a tree in the bottom of a pretty solid drop. I was scouting-showing lines for you. It's easy to sit back and dog on what might be the only swim of mine you have seen in a while but you would have swim if you didn't have us telling you exactly where to go. As far as the hole and jed goes, If he hadn't knocked you out of that hole with his boat you would still be in it. And now for the bootie beer, if you had to carry me down the creek like we did you then I woulda gladly drank it. Brooks welcome to the board but becareful when paddling with John, he will take years off your life when he paddles.
