Monday p.m. date with the Wolf? (Bayou)

After the rain for this area over the last week (have almost six inches in backyard guage from the last four days or so, pretty sure Wolf will be running tomorrow). Especially if we get any of the forecast for tonight.

Will check the gauge early in the a.m. and post by 7 a.m.

I can probably be at the take-out to set shuttle around 1 p.m. Should have plenty of time to get a run in.

Any takers?

Don't think it got the weather damage from the ice storm. Think it's been run since I went with Shelby in October, 2009.

It's not your usual steep creek since the main drops are fairly big considering the run. Got plenty of time to scout from the boat on the boogey water.

And nobody runs all of Grandma's House.

Wolf Bayou is really out of its banks at the Hwy. 14 bridge. Would expect it to continue rise with rain forecast for all day in the area.

I think one could scout Wolf Bite at this level but not Wolf Whistle!! The undercut at Grandma's House will be totally under water I suspect. Think I'll go up after work and took a look see if what Coogan found on Little Peter is doing!!

Maybe Wolf Bayou tomorrow!

You folks be careful out there today!

Our small contingent of paddlers from Jonesboro has run Wolf Bayou a couple of times this Winter/Spring. The creek was totally clear with no wood issues at all. So . . . should be clear unless new wood came in with the recent rains.

Thanks, David. Will go by tomorrow again for a visual. Based on rain since this morning, it might be on the low end of doable tomorrow. Dodson is a no-can-go for tomorrow.
Posting by 7 a.m. for any interested. Got some shots of Coogan's find in Cleburne County with a bit more water in it. Will post them later.

Lord have mercy upon my soul. Thou shalt not tempt me, for the gasoline is $3.85 and the chambermaid hath wrought upon me a great contempt for my soul, she hath poured salt upon the wound and the tongue hath been sharp, she hath disdain for the wickedness of my ways, that I should go yea into the mountains and seek that which is blessed and pure, and that I know not, why I seek that over the time spent in the presence of the chambermaid, and yea though the rain hath fallen my heart is heavy for the knowledge that my lord will taketh away the rain and in the season when creeks runneth dry it shall come to pass, and we shall pray and beseech thee oh lord to grant us a trickle of rain or seek a great journey across I-40 to the place where the creeks are harnessed by man.

I beseech thee o friend hath you not mercy upon me that I know in my head that upon the morrow I must return to the place of my toil. Yet in my heart, I long to journey once again into the mountains north of Concord and seek that which is good, the Class IV of the Wolf Bayou, where the waters rush and carve the cataract that enchants me so.

For now I will meditate, and I will think upon these things, that which is foretold by Ed Buckner, for the morrow the sun, it shall shine, and the rain that will water the earth shall not come again for many days. I will lay down my head and rest next to the chambermaid and I will dream of the morrow and if I am blessed I will arise and seeth a way to have my cake and eat it too :D

Now that's funny, Shelby!!! But the bad news is the visual this morning did not reveal the little surf wave that comes in with sufficient flows. Initially, it looked liked there was enough water in the stream for today but when I checked the downstream side, no wave. :(

Don't know if the higher flows of the last few days changed it or what. At best, it would be a low water run if you got it right now. :(

Later guys!
