Several of us Tulsa Area Boaters have scouted this site, only runs during floods.

When it does run, it actually shakes the ground!

Like I said above, I have scouted it both dry and running like the photos. Way above my courage and skill level to kayak - It is an awesome thing to look at and goes on for a really long distance.

Some of this stuff is definitely runnable at the right levels. Some of it looks fatal at the "right" levels, too.

Grand Lake has had a BIG run-up in the last couple of weeks or so. Would not be surprised if one or more of the spillways - there are three - ran into the summer.

Went up there when they were running in the late '80s with another guy in our Dancers. We put in at the eddy that guy shot the video from (see Heath's link), and surfed the tailwaves all the way down to where the spillway channels met the main channel below the dam. Arms reached the full-on jelly stage.

I will definitely mount a trip or two up there. It's worth a day trip just to gawk. If you go up with boats, might be best to keep them inside your vehicle while you can. GRDA (Grand River Dam Authority) or local law enforcement might get a little excited if they see kayaks - likely to assume some drug-crazed wacko with a death wish plans to run the madness.
