Albert Pike gage

Post by T Yamashita » Thu Apr 21, 2011 11:17 am

Anyone know how long this gage has been up? Also, any ideas on how it correlates to "good boating levels" on the little mo? Finally, since the campground appears to be closed, does that mean no parking either? I wonder if the forest service will put other gages on some other streams like the 'tot above brushy creek?

Also, I see it's temporary till Oct 1. 2011. Looks like a good thing for the club to request further operation and help pay with the gage fund. Thoughts?

parking is available on east side of river at private campground. If there's not a few inches of water coming over the old slab at hwy 84 the upper part will be to low you're better off to do the lower part and take your playboat at that level.

T,
Good catch, hadn't seen it. Let's look at today's plot and make notes; should give us an idea on the answer to your question by comparing to lower gage.

I'll see what I can find out about the rest of it, and add it to the wish list Debo is going to send ANRC.

Not really sure a gauge at albert pike is going to be any more useful than current gauge. Yes there is parking on south side by store as we were there yesterday. I had not noticed the new gauge until this morning. Yesterday when we left 84 Bridge @ 10:30 level was at top of 30 inch mark on bridge. We took off the last time about 6:00 and level was @ bottom of 24 inch mark. The left side of Pin Ball HAS A TREE IN IT looks still runnable but did not want to get to close to it. Very Bottom of winding stairs looks a little different and a lot of gravel has been moved around but no major changes.

I think keeping the gage would help out as there have been several times when the 'tot first timers trip had been adjusted since one watershed got too much rain and the not as much. It would be very helpful in further pinpointing where the rain hit and where to go when you're driving down from LR and other places. It'd also be good for crooked creek levels.

Here's the new gage being discussed b.t.w.

I'm with Adam, don't think that it will help us much for the Lil' Mo' floats other than the rain gage part. ? Worth watching though.

Great gauge on the Little Mo! If it's gonna be around for the long-term, I can update the OWP gauge page to use that one. Let me know if that makes sense to do.

this gauge would do so much for the little mo boaters, and even more so for the crooked boaters:)

be nice yo see how much is truyly coming in on the upper little mo watershed compared to the blalock on lower streams.
