Looking to buy a new GoPro 1080p HD to use when paddling. I've got a few questions for all the GoPro owners out there:
Generally, where should I start and what accessories should I look to add?
Should I get the GoPro naked, or something like the helmet mount kit? Who has had success with mounting GoPro successfully to paddling helmets?
I know people have talked about GoPro a lot on here, so sorry about the redundancy. Thanks for the help.

Re: GoPro Question
I have mounted mine to my helmet and to my boat http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=274v8pk1xM4, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vD3l9za_xZE. I have also added a short tether in case it does get knocked loose.
This is the one I got a few weeks back, http://www.buydig.com/shop/product.aspx?sku=GPCHDMH001" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. It comes with all sorts of mounts.
!0% off with gopro10
there was a 25% off when I bought mine gopro25

Re: GoPro Question
Regud is right on. Get the curved mount for your helmet. I got the surf hero, but being a canoeist, I've got lots more flat spots on my boat to stick down the bigger mount.

Re: GoPro Question
Can anyone post videos to compare the quality difference between the cheaper gopros like the 960 that's $179 and say the $300 one?

Re: GoPro Question
Mine is a helmet hero wide, 5mp. I got it at http://www.bikebling.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for $149. It came with mounts for helmet, bike, wrist, etc. I've just used the elastic band thingee to put mine on my helmet and it has worked great. It has no-slip nubs on it and has never budged a bit. I love my gopro, even tho I don't know how to use the bells & whistles. Got good, quick service from BikeBling. 1-800-BIKEPRO
Good luck!

Re: GoPro Question
ganon311,
There are two big differences in the two products. One is video resolutions available, and the other is the expansion port. Putting 1080p video on the internet requires a commitment to spending lots of time editing (lots of numbers to crunch!) and, almost necessarily, spending some money for hosting. (Vimeo free limits you to 500mb per week of upload, which is between 5 and 10 minutes at 720p, which the less-expensive GoPros can do.)
The decision you need to make, which is not about video *quality*, is how much you want to use slow-mo (this requires filming at 60fps, which the less expensive models don't do), or if you want to use the video screen or battery adjunct, both of which require the expansion port.
So, to sum up, deciding to go with the more expensive camera isn't about image quality unless you are committed to blu-ray quality video, in which case, you'll be spending way more than the difference in price of the two cameras.
Hope this helps,
Shep
