OT - a computer or software related question

I know there are some smart computer folks out there and am hoping for some software sugestions. There must be a simple way to do this, but it seems eluding to the organization I work for.

To keep it paddling themed…If I had three canoes, (a red, green, and blue one) and two kayaks (yellow and orange) all stored in different places, is there a simple web-based reservation calendar system out there that all my designated borrowers could access from their various locations and see a calendar page with all the choices, and be able to make reservations? Maybe I'd also like to add paddles, or Pfds to my loaner list as well. Or maybe, I just want to check the calendar page to see if boat is available, and if I don't see a particular model listed on a certain day, I'll know it is probably available.

The solution needs to be simple to use for the computer impaired, affordable, (like nearly free) possibly be free standing or attached to a web site? I need to see all the boats and accessories on the same monthly calendar page view. Thanks for any suggestions, or PMs that I can suggest to our guy in charge for this.

Did a quick google search for "calendar manage multiple resources"... many options out there, potentially/probably some for free.

Just the first hit is the right kind of product. It's $40 but it will allow you to have infinite resources. Set up each piece of equipment as a resource and then give people permission to log in and "reserve" the resource by blocking the calendar.

That's if you just want to manage time.

2cents.

Check out Google Calendar. Everyone will have to have a gmail account, but there is no charge.

Our family is spread out, and we use Google Calendar to keep each other informed about everyone else's plans.

Jon, liked the program but I'm told we need something web based ? so users outside our main building can access it? We don't really have a central server. Any other recomendations?

I'm told google calendar won't work because of limitations to how many people can access it or how many resources can be attached to a single calendar? What we want is a one month page view, seeing what car r boat or whatever is spoken for on a given day.

Does everyone who is going to view the calendar have to have a unique ID and password? If not, you don't have any problem getting around the issue of how many can access it.

So the main question is how many simultaneous accesses will be made to the calendar at its peak use.

Initially, there would not be more than ten total users. I would think yes on some type of password or unique ID. The chances of more than two or three folks looking at the same time is probably minimal, unless someone opens the calendar and neglects to close it, thus locking others out. That sometimes happens on another sytem we have.

Apprecate the brainstorming.
