WFA for Paddlers March 12-13 2011 Currently Full!
Update, we are currently full, but if you are interested please go ahead and contact me and we will put you on standby. Last minute cancellations, while not common, happen occasionally and we give others the chance to fill these spots.
Hi Folks! We filled the last class and a number of folks were on standby, so here is your second chance to take the same course, once again offered by Ozark Safety and Rescue Educators.[/i]
Due to the needs of our ACA instructors and interest from many ACC members, we will be offering the Wilderness First Aid for Paddlers course again.
This program is designed to be specific to the needs of paddlers in remote environments (i.e. most of our state) and in two days will focus on stabilization, treatment and evacuation procedures for many different medical emergencies in those times when "911" is not a ready option.
The program is about 18 hours of fast paced training that includes a good mix of classroom and hands on/scenario based learning. We will be doing after dark scenario work as well on Saturday evening after dinner, so be sure to bring headlamps and clothing appropriate for the weather, whatever it might be.
With successful completion of the course, participants receive a 3 year nationally recognized certification. The program and curriculum are accredited though the Wilderness Medical Society and concurrent with all wilderness protocols.
The Course will be hosted at Camp Couchdale on March 12-13 2011 beginning at 8am on Saturday and ending by 6pm on Sunday.
The cost will be 125.00 per current ACC member or ACA instructor and 140.00 for all others. The cost includes all materials and a really nice textbook/guide that belongs in the medical kit for any backcountry explorer.
Lodging is available on site in the building we will be using and is 20.00 per night per person. For those coming in from farther away, we will have access to the lodge on the evening of Friday the 11th as well. Participants are responsible for their own meals.
For those interested in attending, Email me at: SwiftwaterRescue@gmail.com and I will send you additional information and the application packet.
For questions, feel free to call me directly at 479-595-1655
Cheers!

I highly recommend this class to anyone that hasnt taken it. Without a doubt worth every penny! I just took this class with Tom and Paul Shepard, and it was amazing to say the least!

You will become a master ducktapeologist. It's a no brainer for any paddler.

Anyone on this board attending the class? Just have some general questions about what others might be doing for meals/lodging.

I'm attending if I can remember to send my check. Haven't given too much thought to meals, but I'm sure I'll just stay on site.
You come too.

Wondering if anyone is planning on camping on site instead of staying in the bunkhouse?
I have a truck tent that I use, even in cold weather.
