The club hosts several classes throughout the year. There is generally a swiftwater rescue class in the summer. If you aren't yet comfortable with a throw-rope, then whitewater school at the end of April is probably more what you want to look at. You will see sticky threads posted on the message board usually 3-4 months in advance for these classes (the WW school is already being talked about.)

Hope this helps,
Shep

Good advice Shep! It would also be a good idea to check with your local Chapters' resources. Being in Clinton,AR, I'm not sure which Chapter would be the best choice (logistically closer). The Central Chapter and the Piney Creeks Chapter would love to tell you about thier activities and resources including swiftwater rescue events, in their Chapters and Statewide . Here are links to them both where you can find their contact info:

Library may can get you these

here
and
here

they asked us to read these before our SWR class. Most of the info was covered again. Great start. Many folks will be able and happy to compare and practise at something like canoe school or a warmer river trip.

Classes come up in the summer but they fill up fast.
You sure this is on the right channel?

Hey Josh! Check the posts by Adam Willard re: ww rescue class. Sounds like he wants to have more of them than we ususlly have and I think that would b great. He has helped me a lot,esp at first wen I started paddling. I think we need more rescue classes cause they fill up quick and end up turning folks away. Minna
