Anybody have Kokatat bibs?

Post by Tim Eubanks » Sun Jan 02, 2011 8:10 pm

Curious how they fit. I know all the IMO's about bibs vs dry suits. Still think bibs would be better for my needs.???

Bibs are a good alternative to a dry suit as long as the bibs have a relief zipper, the only problem I have is the extra bulk in your mid section from rolling the bibs tunnel with the dry top tunnel. I final bought a drysuit this year, I have say I should of done that a long time ago. Hope this info helps!

I have a pair of the Kokatot Tropos bibs. They have always kept me dry as long as you take the time to roll them into the drytop tunnel. My only complaint is not having a relief zipper. They are fairly comfortable though, and overall I am happy with them.

Tim,
Kim gave me the Kokatat bibs with gore-tex booties and the relief zipper a few years ago. Never would have bought them for myself, but I love em. Much more comfortable than a drysuit. I have a drysuit with all that stuff too, but in the right situations, for me, I really like the bibs when I would have worn pants with a drytop. I'd say go for it.

The waders don't have the doodad to attach the skirt and the neoprene feet dont' fit any of my shoes . Also, they are a bit short and limit my range of motion.

I don't know what type of water you are planning on using them, but there has been significant discussion on other websites recently that they can be dangerous. I don't know any real details, but a friend of a friend in New England drown this past summer when his bibs filled with water during a swim. He was an experienced class V hair-boater. Maybe worth considering the drysuit...

Thanks,

I have a pair that I like fine. They don't have the relief zipper and that can be bothersome on occasion.

I am no class five boater, but i have swam a lot in the past, hopefully, less in the future and my bibs have never given me any trouble.

They are a little bulky when rolled up with the dry top, but for a budget man they work great.
