A few of us weekday sea kayakers are going from the Town of Beaver campground launch ramp at 10AM Thursday 12/30/10. This group tends to leave on time, so get there early to unload. Bring a lunch and beverages if you want to join us. Supposed to be windy. Good chance of seeing eagles this time of year.
There is a $5 parking fee per vehicle for the Town of Beaver campground parking lot if you do not have a yearly pass ($20), but it is a fairly secure lot with unloading right on the water, so we almost all have the yearly permit as we go here often. NO shuttle needed.
I'm bringing a loaf of Banana Bread and a tube of whipped cream to go with it, and two thermoses of tea and a stove to heat it up with at our lunch stop. I assume we will go up river towards Beaver Dam, but we have gone down stream to Tablerock Lake on whim of group. Will try to remember to post a note on my Pathfinder's window saying which way we go if anyone shows up late and wants to catch us. I would guess it will be the only dark grey Pathfinder in the lot with racks and a red canoe trailer with a wooden box behind it. I'm leaving with Mary from my house at Monte Ne at 9AM to get there on time as it is an hour drive for me.
Call me on my cell tonight 721-9101 if you need directions.

Re: White river, from Town of Beaver 10AM Thursday12/30
Six of us went today for about 8 miles upstream and back. Saw a dozen mature eagles. and 4 immature eagles, Lots of ducks and Kingfishers. It was windy with average winds around 20MPH gusting to 30's, but not that bad. Made you appreciate it when you had calm water in a few of the bends. White was lower than I've seen it in a couple of years. Guess they are lowering Tablerock Lake like they are lowering Beaver Lake, which made for some current to paddle against going up towards Beaver Dam from the Town of Beaver. Lunch was a shared Smorgasborg from Chips and Dip, to gorp, chocolate pretzels, nuts, pita wraps, orange slices and Banana bread with whipped cream. Chloe, Mary's dog, didn't know who to beg from next, although Mary did have dog food for her. Chloe really likes banana bread with whipped cream.
Catch us another week if you want to go with this weekday paddleing group. We tend to go different places each week, and set it up by group email. I will try to post here if anyone wants to join us. Not having a boat or gear is not a reason not to join us, as most of us have spare boats and gear we will loan out. Let me know if you need something to go with us.
