Happy New Year Red Hot Cider Float

Post by DeBo » Mon Dec 20, 2010 7:03 pm

Ok! It's a tradition! This year's trip will be on the Little Maumelle.
Yes, we will be doing the trip on New Year's day and it is open to everyone and anyone who has a boat; as all our trips are.

We will meet at the boat ramp at Pinnacle Mountain State Park at 10AM on January first to run shuttle then put in. Somewhere along the way we will stop to eat lunch and I will make red hot cider for everyone. We will take out at the private boat ramp on Pinnacle Valley Road. The trip is about four miles and we should be off the water before 4:00PM.

This trip will not be cancelled or postponed due to weather! Good luck in the new year depends on it!

Pencil us in. The trip may not be weather dependent... but we will. If it is less paddler friendly weather, we may go overland instead. I will make a more solid claim next week. Want it to be enjoyable for my young guys
You sure this is on the right channel?

Know this is too soon but weather forcast today says sunny and low 50's. Let's hope that holds out to be so on New Years Day. Looking forward to paddling again with good friends.

Looking forward to seeing everyone soon. Will be in possession of a large quantity of fresh apple cider and a new member, texasannie52, who is really looking forward to meeting new friends. Happy New Year to all in advance.

Glad you warned us! I heard there's a possession limit on Texicans in the Arkansas State Parks. One Park Ranger told us that if you get more than 3 or 4 of them together in one place, they're liable to get to drinkin', druggin', and knife fightin' ....

I don't think one will be a problem, but we need to coordinate as a group to make sure we don't get over the limit.

"I heard there's a possession limit on Texicans in the Arkansas State parks."
Hmmmmm. I may have a problem.

I learned to swim in the Medina River. It was just across the street from our house in Castroville.
I paddled a canoe for the first time at BSA Camp Tom Wooten near Austin.
I spent a lot of time on the San Marcos River in the summer when not working at Aquarena.
Grew up in towns within an hour or so of San Antone

Well . . .um . . . uh . . . whats the limit?

As a rule of thumb, I'd say we can run a safe trip if we have 5 Arkies for every 1 Texican.

Mikki counts as 5 Arkies since she has lived and worked in Alaska.

So right now I think DeBo can cover both TexasAnnie and Richard.

But if we've got any other wolves in sheeps clothing, the equations could change quickly...

Me, I'll probably wear camo and just hide in the woods somewhere nearby, so I'm not really worried about it anyway...

Toss in an Ozark Society member!
My boat's been dry since the Labor Day float at
Murphreesboro and it's ready to get wet!
I'll try to rope a few others from the O.S. to come along.

Pencil us in for a table for four. Jackie is from Texarkana, does he need to bring papers to show he's from the right side of State Line Avenue? Mike's bringing a new guy.

Looking forward to seeing everyone next year!

Cowper,
Don't want no trouble with no revenuers or any other john laws who might be lurking about just looking for a chance to enforce the "Federal Lacy Act" for transportation of wildlife(Texicans for example). I am assuming that that if the bag limit is 1 than the legal possession limit would be 2. Since I have been classified as 5 Arkies than I can legally be in possession of one Texican and still have some wiggle room for an additional "wolf in sheeps clothing" if circumstances present themselves. I WILL do a pre-transport check for knifes, guns or other hazardous materials just in case.

PS Texaannie has informed me that she will be bringing a special treat(think DO goodies), that will be guaranteed to bring you out of your hiding place in the woods and ensure the safety of the "red hots" for the cider.(Debo has informed me that pre-paddle consumption might be a problem). And whats this business about you talking about having to wear "camo" like you had a wide selection of clothing to choose from. I didn't know you OWNED any other kind of band of clothing. :D

OOPS, add an "r" to that band of clothing. Just had a "mental picture" of you being followed through the woods in your finest outfit being followed by John Phillips Sousa in full swing playing his best marching songs.
