I have been quasi-following their African expedition and just reading how intense the other aspects of the descents (political, wildlife, etc...) are, especially Coetzee talking about eddies filled with Hippos and river banks lined with Crocodiles waiting to rip you in half, it really gives you a sense of just how much rested on complete success in all stages of the descent (planning, paddling, teamwork, etc...). These guys are really pushing the limits of exploratory boating. RIP COETZEE.
