A few (3-5 so far) of the Rogers area weekday sea kayakers are leaving from the HW 12 bridge over Beaver lake tomorrow morning at 10AM. If anyone wants to go with us, the more the merrier. We tend to leave promptly, and it is a slightly faster paddleing group compared to some. Bring a lunch and fluids. We normally do about 5-8 miles and stop half way for lunch. Winds tomorrow are supposed to be better than Thursday and Friday, even though they will be warmer. Some weeks we have 2 show up some weeks we have a dozen. IF we expect a bunch, we sometimes do a buffet with every one bringing something for the group. Remember your need to keep hydrated. Temperatures in the morning should be in the 30's F with a high in the 40's F, winds forecast to be 4-7 MPH.
Not our usual number of folks going, but we always have a good time.
This group tends to go to a different section of Beaver Lake or the White river below Beaver Dam each week during the year and we contact each other by email to say where and when. Come a few times, and you will be added to the email list.

Re: Sea kayaking on Beaver Lake Wednesday 12-7-10
Well, the 3 of us (Warren Cunningham, David Dempsey and I) had a great paddle. David and I were in our Prijon Kodiaks and Warren was in his self made wooden Sea kayak made from a Cheasapeake Light Craft kit. Sunny and little wind. Temps as forecast starting in the 30's and ending in the high 40's. We dressed for it and we were comfortable. Did 10 miles, leaving HW12 bridge, and going east around Bear and Deer Island and then north towards the Ventris water intake, then NW to Coose creek Hollow then south and west along the western shoreline back to HW12 Bridge. 4 hours, including a 45 minute lunch stop in the sun near the end of Coose hollow. Saw hawks, kingfishers, herron, crows, ducks, and a bald eagle. Felt good to be out on the water. Saw the smoke in the west NW from the controlled burn being done in Bentonville around the art museum.
Will try to post next trip if anyone wants to join us. Some are spur of the moment. Don't have a sea kayak? Ask and we might could come up with all the gear to loan you if you need it. This weekday group is more geared towards experienced paddlers who are in shape, but I go with first timers when ever asked, and pace the trip according to whomever is paddleing with me.
