Taking your creeking skills hiking.....
I know there are other hobbies such as climbing, mountain biking, hiking, etc. when there's no boating, but this past weekend Scott & I chose hiking. We went out at Pinnacle Mountain primarily to get in better shape for some upcoming snowboard trips. We used the base trail to warm up and get from west summit parking area to the east side and then we hiked up to the summit. Scott tells me that his favorite thing is hauling butt down the west summit trail back to the truck. He told me it was like creeking - you find your line and hit it
He got way ahead of me as I go a little slower. The past two times we went, it was super crowded on the west summit trail and I got frustrated. I had to start "off-roading" to go around the fair weather "let's hike in groups of 20" people who refused to let you pass. As I kept doing this on my way down, I realized it's like a creek after a big rain. You have floating logs, new strainers and other debris to contend with. So I just pretended all these people were the additional strainers in my creek and picked some more challenging lines and it made the hike more enjoyable! It was fun, but not as much fun as a river would be right now! One of these days the creeks will rise again in AR!

nice metaphor
"The challenge goes on. There are other lands and rivers, other wilderness areas, to save and to share with all. I challenge you to step forward to protect and care for the wild places you love best"
