Nice Rack...

Post by Jeremy M » Tue Nov 23, 2010 12:14 pm

Selling two items: (1) Custom steel/expanded metal exoskeleton truck rack (2) Leer Fiberglass Camper Shell with external rain gutter mounts. Both items in good condition and were installed on a 2001 Toyota Tacoma, but would probably fit most small pick-up trucks. Asking $500.00 for each or for those looking for a deal, $1000.00 for both.

How does the rack attach to the truck bed? Drilled and bolted? Clamped?

I had it attached with 4 clamps on each side, which served to hold both the rack and the camper shell down...didn't move an inch, but you could drill and bolt it down if need be. I've had it maxed out with 12 kayaks at one time. Its a very well built rack and super versatile. Even been known to sit on top of it and throw back a few cold ones....

Jeremy,
I see the brackets on top of the camper shell. Does the rack fit over the camper shell or on top of it. If it fits on top, how high does it stand. I am looking for something that will give me self contained travel and shelter for camping supplies and this looks like it might work for me. I could remove the toolbox I currently have and use the camper for storage. Is the shell water tight?
Another consideration for me as an older woman is the height that I would be required to lift a canoe or kayak to load it onto the rack if it sits on top of the camper shell. Do you have a pic of it mounted onto your truck that I could look at. Thanks, Mikki

Mikki - Here's the only picture I could find, but you can see how it was mounted...the measurements of my truck bed are 76.75"L x 61.5"W. The shell is water tight. The rack is fairly tall, but I used the sides of the rack to stand on...hopefully you can tell if this will work for you.
