Im guessing the gauge is still broke since it's the only river in the state not in the red. Does anybody know when it might get fixed.
Thanks Adam

Re: Caddo gauge????
Adam,
Best I can tell, the Caddo Gauge is working OK but currently the river is still too low from the Summer for good floating. Although the gauge is working, the massive flood of June 11th caused a reshaping of the river basin, the net effect being that the current gauge height ( in feet)
is reading a bit higher than previous. After the June 11th flood, we made floats from The Swinging Bridge to Glenwood, and Glenwood to Amity sections to survey the damage, as did others. The best opinion we have now to square old floating levels vs. new gauge readings is to subtract .40 ft. from the reading.
Best Regards
Jim

Wonder if we can get fish to subtract .40 from his current caddo readings? Or would it be better to change the gauge to use the CFS reading?

Thanks Jim, the kidos are wanting to go paddling. Do you know if there are any river wide strainers from Narrows to Glenwood?
Sincerely,

Re: Caddo gauge????
Adam,
The flood of June left only one strainer on that section, about two miles downstream of the Narrows at the head of what I refer to as 'Lunchtime Rapid'. I don't know if Ron or John (two of the major area outfitters) did anything with it over the Summer. I do know if it's still there, it's easy to walk around at current levels.
I see last night's rains have brought the river up some, and Thursdays forecast of rain may be just what is needed to get the river floatable for this weekend. I have always liked a level of 5.75-7 ft. for this trip, with the newer gauge readings, that would now be 6.15-7.40 ft
Give us a report if you all go paddling1
Best Regards
