*Attention! New owner and changes at SFLR take out at LoGap

Post by Chester » Thu Oct 28, 2010 11:02 am

Grady Walhquist has sold the property on river right at LoGap, where we have been allowed to take out for some time now. I talked to the new owner on the phone today. He is Justin Bell of Red River Valley Farms. Presently, he is ok with us continuing to take out there, but would prefer us not to drive through or open the gate. Driving through is not something we normally did anyway, but those few with keys, have usually opened the gate to let the group walk out with their boats. So just don't do either for now. Have another boater help you through the fence wire and pull your boat under or over it. :clap:
The new owner has already had some vandalism issues, so let's all try and pick up any trash while there, and be watchful for any suspicious activity or vandalism on his property. Report any problems or vandalism to me ASAP by PM'ing on the board here, or on my cell. Let's all be our usual, cordial, beer drinking selves, and help keep this important access available to us. :mrgreen:
Justin has both a rec boat and a canoe, and sounded interested in going with us one day on the SFLR. He may join us here on the website as well. He also informed me of yet another new USGS gauge on the SFLR at LoGap. In time, we'll get all these calibrated to our use, and see if Fish will update his page. :beer:

Gauges now on SFLR>
At Clinton (original gauge)................. http://waterdata.usgs.gov/ar/nwis/uv?07075300" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
In the GMWMA at the low water bridge.... http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv?07075250" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
300 ft above the LoGap bridge.............. http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv?07075270" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This could be a sticky note for awhile.

Many thanks to Justin for working with us. REALLY appreciate the effort. Would hate to not have this privilege anymore.

Lost an access to Archey this year to a new gate and disgruntled owner.
You sure this is on the right channel?

Glad to hear that! (Hopefully, in the future he will feel that way about us.)

Big Thanks to Chester for carrying the olive branch to the new owner! I know he had to work at it some, with multiple tries to make contact, while at the same time not calling so much as to risk having the new owner feel like we were hassling him.
