I have been looking at this picture that is at the top of the Arkansas Canoe Club page. Does anyone know where it was taken. just curious if it is Frog Bayou? Getting bored I guess.

Think it is from an upper section of the Caddo.

Looks like the upper, upper North Fork of the Cadron Creek, too. Maybe it's our fantasy creek?

Maybe.... It looks a little like the biggest wave floating to Rudy on Frog.

looks alot like the leadin to THE FALLS on the lower Caddo

Really think that Jim K called it as the upper Caddo.

Dan Valovich,, one of the finest photographers in our club, photographed this scene on the Upper Caddo River in 2006 or thereabouts. This shot was made on the one most significant rapid on what I call 'The Sugarloaf Knob' section, (Hwy 182 access to Hwy 84 access in the Amity area). Dan was using a Nikon D-200 camera , a filter, variable long lens and his uncanny experience. In my opinion it's a great shot to see how luxuriant and appealing our rivers are.
Dan would probably not say all of this, but I thought I'd mention it. :)

Jim, would that be the one with sort of a double ledge, the only real rapid on this stretch? Great place to play when water is on the full side. On the low side it's a great place for a summer swim. If you're there sometime, keep a sharp eye out. We were there once with a recently married couple. She discovered later that she lost both her band and engagement ring while we were swimming there. I went back with a mask to look for it (fat chance, I know) but there was just too many bubbles from the ledges. Bring out the gold pans!

i thought that was it. its right below Sugarloaf mt. half way point for that run. if you can ever catch it right , the falls right below this pic. has some great surfing

You're correct on the location. Easy as it can be, it can present navigation problems to us all... Two years ago we were paddling it on a low-water fishing trip when Marlo upset and lost a $200 reel I bought her for Christmas... I returned to Hwy 84 the next weekday and paddled my way up there to grapple around with a long pole and treble hooks to try and snag it, no luck... My experience finding wedding bands is better. From what I suspect, they don't migrate too far and may be easier to locate with the metal detector when the water is as low as it is presently.

Thanks, Jim and to all who guessed right. I guess I will have to try to find that spot now that I live a little closer; if only there was a little rain coming.
