Creeking shoes

Thinking about updating my shoes for some fall creeking... provided mother nature supplies some rain. Comparing the Teva Avatar to the 5/10 Canyoneers. Both seem to be very good. Any opinions on these? Thanks for any replies.

I have done a lot of research and the 5.10 canyoneers seem to be the best ones out there. This is for support and grip factor on wet rocks. They seem to be a bit bulky but that is not a problem with my Jackson Mega Rocker and Super Hero as they have plenty of foot room.

Problem for me is finding a dealer with Canyoneers in stock. These shoes cost a lot and I am willing to pay the price, except I want to try them on before sending in the money.

If anyone knows of a regional area shop with 5.10 canyoneers in stock, I would appreciate the information.

I have had delamination issues with almost every one of the Teva sandals I have owned.

I had the soles come off some Teva P-2's, but I got them on clearance for $20 and heard that they had some glue problems. I'm currently using Teva Avators and Cherry Bombs. I got them both on sale, so I spent less for both pairs than I would have paid for a pair of Canyoneers. So far so good, but only time will tell on the glue.

Purchased the 5.10 Canyoneers.. very nice shoes/boots. Thanks for comments. They're a little snug in my hero with the bulkhead, but not uncomfortable. Looking forward to wearing them soon.. Hopefully on Richland

Yup, James, got advance notice of this model coming out to the US about now. My plan is to wait till these are available. I get the sense from what I have seen on other message boards that this SAR model may be a bit better for kayaking than the canyoneer model.

Topic revival here - my last trip required some major footwork in rough conditions and my NRS shortie's really didn't cut the mustard. I also have the NRS hightops but the soles on both really aren't design for long hikes to putins. I've read the reviews and looked at the various models that were linked in this thread. What I did not see was a shoe that strike a balance between decent sole support without being bulky.

I've done a couple of quick searches but have not turned up anything that I'd consider ideal. My version of ideal
1) thicker sole suitable for walk in access hikes of a half-mile to a mile over log roads, trails, rocks etc,

2) balanced with in kayak comfort such that my feet don't go numb from being squashed into an awkward contortion inside the boat

3) Due to the way my feet to lye inside the boat a little extra padding on the outer ankle bone wouldn't hurt as well but not necessary.

Okay now that this thread is sort of revived - is there anything new or old to look at that strikes the balance I'm trying to find?

I've had the canyoneers for a season now and they are excellent. Foot room might be an issue though. A little tight in my Hero with the full outfitting. If you can fenagle the room or your outfitting, they are worth the purchase..
