Red River Cleanup:
Saturday, October 16th -
On Saturday, October 16th at 8am, the Bayou Chapter of the Ozark Society partnered with the Ark-La-Tex Chapter of the Arkansas Canoe Club will kick-off the 1st annual Red River Clean Up in Shreveport and Bossier City, Louisiana. Launch site will be the Stoner boat launch. The Red River provides drinking water, flood protection, fish and wildlife habitat, recreation opportunities, and economic benefits to our community. It is a vital part of our heritage and is a source of community identity and pride. This annual event will raises public awareness of the magnitude of trash accumulating in our river as well as all of our Nation’s waterways. The Bayou Chapter of the Ozark Society and the Ark-La-Tex Chapter of the ACC are dedicated to protecting our Red River because a healthy community starts with a healthy river. We are excited to see that the community is welcoming this opportunity to volunteer and pitch in because a cleaner river is a healthier river.
We are partnered with two national organizations that focus on America’s waterways and oceans. The Red River Clean Up is registered as a National River Cleanup with American Rivers http://www.americanrivers.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; . It is also registered with PADI’s Project Aware http://www.projectaware.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; who is focused on conserving underwater environments. The list of interested parties is still growing, however we are pleased to have the support and participation of the following organizations:

I will open my home and yard to any Arkie buds that want to come help with the clean up. This is the party we will be going to after the clean up.
