Has anyone heard anything about when the clearing of the landslide on Falling Water Rd. might start?

“The U.S. Forest Service has received written confirmation from the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) that they will fund the design and actual repair of the damages to the road that were caused by the mudslide,” stated Ron Klouzek, Staff Officer for Engineering for the forest. FHWA has completed the preliminary assessment of the slide area, is currently working on a design to solve the problem which they expect to have completed in April at the earliest. Work is expected to be completed after a contract get advertised and awarded sometime later this year".
This preceeding quote was taken from a US Forest Service memo dated February of 2009. If the funds were allocated then where did the money go? Why is the project so far behind?

Perhaps we should contact:

Thanks for posting the contact link. I sent an email in today urging them to reopen Falling Water Rd. If you enjoy paddling Richland, Falling Water, or Bobtail, please take a few minutes to send an email and maybe we can get the ball rolling.

I'm looking for some pics of Bobtail Creek. I read the ozakpages.com/Cowper write up, very nice I might add, and was wanting some more insight via photos. I'm hoping to get a shot at paddling it this fall/winter.
