I have been looking for a full face helmet for Hunter. WRSI says that they are coming out with the face guard for small helmets and I have not seen them yet. I have been looking at motocross helmets for him. Does anyone have any pros or cons? Is there a reason this wouldn't work.
Thanks,
Nick

Nick, for information and decision is yours. I have been wearing the various snow ski helmets for a long time. They have the thick foam lining like the motor cycle helmets have.
I did some online searches and the only full face kid's helmet found so far is the URL below. This is advertised as a bike helmet. I could not see the lining but it might work for WW. Worth a check with the manufacturer and then you can make a decision as to if it would work for Hunter.
http://www.amazon.com/Razor-Youth-Helme ... B000K802WI" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
hope this helps. I have a lot of dental work and wear my full face a lot of the time.

The biggest reason I see to not use a helmet
specifically designed for motocross would be
weight. I looked at my moto helmets and com-
pared them to my full-face kayak helmets after
reading your post. The motocross helmets are
easily twice as heavy, and that's dry. With all the
cushion foam inside I would think the moto
helmet would absorb alot more water and become
even heavier once it gets wet.

Look at Ice Hockey helmets - Water proof padding, good protection, and they are on sale this time of year. Look at sizing closely. You may have to get an adult helmet for him, but most of them are adjustable. They do give better protection than most of the other helmets I have worn and they are vented so as not to hold water or heat.
