Arkansas Camp in Need of Kayaker (Summer Job!)

Post by FarPastGone » Sat May 29, 2010 12:14 pm

Hey all,

I am posting this for Kia Kima Scout Reservation, a Boy Scouts of America facility located in Hardy, AR. They are seeking someone (with experience) to assist with a new tour kayaking program they will be running on Lake Ouachita this summer. The summer camp/position runs from Memorial Day to July 19th, but since Memorial Day is this Monday they are willing to work with you on arrival time. Kia Kima provides meals, housing, and work related transport for the duration of summer camp, so it is a good opportunity to make money and spend hardly any.

The program will involve leading a group of scouts on a week long trek at Lake Ouachita; paddling, recreating, and camping out of the tour kayaks. Kia Kima has a fleet of new Wilderness Kayaks Tempst boats to run the program with, so the equipment is good. If you are interested in the position please contact Jeremy Palazolo by email at jpalazolo@bsamail.org or by phone at (901)568-5585.

I worked at Kia Kima the previous two summers and had a great time. It is a great summer job because you make money and spend very little, but end up with over a month (if you are in school) of free time left (and money!). Plus it is really cool to see the kids’ enthusiasm and interest in an outdoor sport you really love.

Hope everyone has a good warm season, and if you need more detail please post up or contact me and I will do my best to relay information.

Thanks!
- Matt
