Cossatot River Camping and Snorkeling with State Park

Post by Lupe » Mon May 24, 2010 10:14 pm

Cossatot River State Park is hosting a series of 2 day/1 night camping and snorkeling adventures over the summer (see dates below). These are Thursday/Friday dates...might be good for some kids while they are out of school!

COSSATOT RIVER KAYAKING – CAMPING ADVENTURES AND KAYAK—SNORKELING ADVENTURES

Cossatot River State park is a prestine14-mile section of river providing beauty and scenery found nowhere else in the state. Kayaking is a unique opportunity to experience a river as majestic as Cossatot. The staff at Cossatot River State Park is now taking reservations for their spring, late summer and fall Kayak Campout Adventures. The dates for these overnight camping trips are: June 3-4 (Kayak/Camping Adventure), August 6-7, 13-14, 20-21 (Kayak/Snorkeling Adventure) and September 10-11, 2010 (Kayak/Snorkeling Adventure). These adventures are designed for a wide variety of people with varying levels of kayaking experience. You can bring your own kayak and camping gear or rent a kayak from the park. In addition the park staff will provide lunch and dinner on Thursday, breakfast and lunch on Friday. Cossatot River State Park will provide transport of your camping gear to the campsite, so there is no real limit on how much you can bring, but please keep it reasonable. There is a restroom facility at the campsite which we will insist that participants utilize. Participants will paddle approximately four to five hours to our take out point. The pace of the float will be a comfortable one with plenty of breaks. Participants will want to pack extra snacks depending upon their appetite. Fresh water will be available to participants at the campsites and takeouts. We will arrive back at the state park take out at approximately 2-3pm on the Friday of the selected dates.

The cost is $75 per person. Kayak rentals are available for $25. There will be no charge for anyone canceling prior to June 1, 2010 (Kayak/Camping Adventure), July 23, 2010 (Kayak/Snorkeling Adventures) and August 27, 2010 (Kayak/Camping Adventures) there will be a cancellation fee of $35 per person for a cancellation after these dates. Unless there is a safety concern the trip will proceed as scheduled regardless of weather. Space is limited, so reserve your spot right away.

To register for this event, or for more information, please contact Shelley Flanary or Keith Bell at Cossatot River State Park at 870-385-2201.
I've heard that into every life a little of it must fall,
but you'll never catch me complaining about too much of that southern rain.
