I'm looking for info on the King's River, above Hwy 62, the Trigger Gap/Rockhouse area. I know the gauge is far downriver, but what is a general guideline to base upstream water levels on? How are the gravel bars for camping? What kind of accesses are there, pay/public? Overnight parking? Cheap shuttles?
I'm not a real paddler. I'm sort of an explorer/fisher/lounger/drinker/canoer. Keep to myself, stay quiet, just enjoy the outdoors. Don't carry much weight, don't set up big camps, sometimes canoe upstream, sometimes paddle quickly downstream. No real agenda, but to see new places and satisfy my curiosity.
I'd like to visit the area that the Nature Conservancy recently purchased. I don't really know a lot about the river, have only seen it at Hwy 62, Hwy 412, and King's River Falls. Was hoping to visit ASAP after Memorial Day, if I don't get tied up with other things.
