Advice Needed

So I was planning on going to Walter Felton's Cossatot Maiden Voyage tomorrow. However, the 'Tot is at 2.35 and doesn't look like it's going to get anywhere near the amount of rain we're getting here in NWA.

I've never done the 'tot and have been really looking forward to it, but there's also a ton of stuff in my own backyard that I've never done but wanted to (middle fork of the white, clear creek, frog etc.) that I know is going to be up this weekend.

Should I wait for another time to head south, and run what's local and raging? Should I get up at 5 and drive and drive out there even if the level is not going to be much more than 3 or so?

I'm conflicted and would appreciate any input

I'm pretty sure Walter said he would make the call by 8 pm tonite, concerning the Tot maiden voyage. It hasn't rained here yet, and knowing my luck lately, it probably won't till some time tonight. Keep your gear ready, check your email late tonight, and paddle where there's water  . My 2 cents.

Thanks dude. :poke:

Ordinarily I wouldn't butt in butt.....sounds like some folks are sitting on the fence with their plans. (Known in the local vernacular as a "kayaker's yes" meaning, I'll be there if something better doesn't come along.)

Understandable in most circumstances and forgivable. But, here's where I'm butting in, in this case Walter deserves the courtesy of a firm yes or no so he can plan accordingly. He's making a huge committment, as are the shepards to do something really nice for folks. Honor that and be accountable so he doesn't have to have any more management issues than necessary!

Thanks,

Dave

Dave, either way I go I'll definitely be letting Walter know. As it looks now, the whole thing may get called off anyway, but I'm definitely not gonna leave anyone hanging.

Unicorn,

Sounds good.

Why not go for the weekend Daily Double? If the Tot trip makes you can't beat the company or the venue. Then you can hit multiple local runs on Sunday. I know folks who have hit the trifecta in Crawford County in one day. Lee Creek, Frog Bayou and West Cedar.....it could happen again. Add that onto a day on the Tot on Saturday and you will never be the same!

Have fun!

I've been looking at the forecast for the Tot and thinking the opposite. Hope the water's not too high! There should be plenty of water for the First Timer's trip this weekend. Should be a good time on the river!
