Paddlers Memorial for Bobby Bohn - POSTPONED

Post by Renee H » Thu May 13, 2010 1:31 pm

Walter Felton has had a rock engraved in memory of Bobby Bohn, who passed away October 22, 2009. Bobby was a great boater and was known well in the paddling community. It has been tradition to place the rock in the Cossatot River at the annual first timers' trip. Heath Day has agreed to say a few words and Walter expects to be at the Ed Banks put in around 10:30am Saturday May 15. My understanding is that some of Bobby's family will be there as well. You do not have to be a participant in the first timers' trip to come. If you have any questions, someone can probably answer them here or feel free to PM me. Thanks, Renee

Regrets - won't be able to be there in person but will be in spirit. I am definitely richer for having known Bobby and shared some great boating adventures with him, and most importantly, having had him as a friend. Thanks to everyone for their part in making the memorial happen.

I sure miss that guy.

I don't think I'll be able to get down there - really wish I could. The other day I said to someone that I hope to write my memoirs in the lives of the people around me. Clearly Bobby did that. I'm glad there'll be a rock with his name on it, but his real memorial is all of the lives he touched. I still think about him often.

I'll let Fish speak for me. Well said.

Per discussion with several boaters, we will not be able to do this since the water is entirely too high. The level is at 7' and rising. I will try to get in touch with the family.
