Removing glue from Royalex

If any of you remember Max Wellhouse, he told me about the 3M Pinstripe Removal Tool to get contact cement & minicell residue off the Royalex. It works well on most stuff, but I just bought a boat with quite a bit of different types of adhesives left over from previous outfitting.
Anyone have suggestions about getting really hard glue off?

Walmart sells a product called goo be gone, a yellow gel like substance. Works good for contact cement. Let it soak for awhile and then apply elbow grease. Clean the area completely with rubbing alchohol if you intend to apply another adhesive. Other adhesives like vynabond and stabond you'll probably need sandpaper. There's always things like MEK and laquer thinner, but you better try a test sample first. Good luck.

Hi Don, looooong time no see.
Roger and I have a Caption that we used "Goof Off" to remove a bunch of adhesive. It worked well. We would saturate a paper towel with it and lay it over an area and let it sit for a few minutes, then start rubbing. came up fairly easy.
Don't think we used it on any vyna bond though. It was all contact cement.
I think Goof Off is pretty much the same stuff as Goo Be Gone mentioned in the last post.

I, literally, just finished removing glues from Royalex with mineral spirits and a scraper. I hope there are no long term negative effects.

Hey, Randy!
I bought a used Impulse.
I read on another forum about using WD-40. I let it soak like you did, & most of it came off.
Still working on the outfitting, not sure if it will be done by Saturday. I ordered some air bags & they're not here yet.

Don,
What model boat did you get? What modifications are you doing to your boat? I used G-Flex to reglue some anchor pads on an old boat and it worked great. Just don't plan on moving/removing whatever you apply it to.
