It will be 2.44' +/- 0.31' at a 90% confidence interval.

All I can say is that everybody better do their rain dances this week through the weekend, then sit your tails down and don't move next week!!! :D I agree, I hope it rains, just not the monsoon variety we encountered last year!

And, no painting the toenails blue after next Tuesday!! :D

I can't take another year like last year.

Question of the water level comes up every year so why should this year be any different.

Bottom line is we live in an area that is rainfall dependent for paddling opportunity. We don't have a series of dam controlled rivers with scheduled releases (yet) and we don't live in a mountainous area with predictable snow melt, so, we have to be flexible and plan accordingly.

This will be the 35th year to host the school on the Mulberry and we have a pretty good record and have worked out a pretty good routine. We won't cancel due to low water but we will, and have, "adapt" if we have high water. Same conditions can be said for most rivers in Arkansas.

If you were to make a decision to host the school on another river you might increase your odds of having teachable water levels more often but you wouldn't be able to match or improve on the other logistical features of holding the school on the Mulberry.

Consider the logistics of shuttle on the Piney for one thing. We need to have multiple short sections of river with good access so we can spread 14 or more classes out on the river. Mulberry has easy shuttles and numerous short sections of river.

The main thing we have done over the years that has helped deal with the issue of teachable water is to make a plan and to stick to that plan. We might be dissapointed once in every 10 or so years but that's a chance we have learned to live with.

The other thing you must refrain from doing is wasting a lot of time wondering what is going to happen. We'll all know when we get there and we will deal with the conditions on the day(s) of the school. That is what boating in Arkansas is like and that is what we try to impart on our charges!

I'm excited to be teaching again this year and am looking forward to seeing everyone.

If you want it to rain make sure to leave your windows down on your rig.

After last year, I'm d*mn sure not going to do any rain dances. Last year was just plain ridiculous.

Level will be 2.54 feet on Saturday morning at 8 AM. The Fish has spoken.
